WEEK 9 TERM 4 - WINDING DOWN WITH PLENTY OF MANAAKITANGA & NGAHAU

  You all deserve a round of applause for your persistence & resilience throughout testing times of this COVID-19 pandemic. We hope that you celebrate all achievements attained during this year. Last Friday saw each EHS family receive a KPMG sponsored Christmas gift together with End of Year school reports.  For more information, about this, click on latest newsletter link below:    School Newsletter 10/12/21   Senior classes had some fun-in-the-sun, playing games which Year 8's led.  Fun, laughter and participation were captured in a few of these snapshots: As we look to the conclusion of the 2021 academic year this week, sadly it will be the final week for our Year 8's who are moving on to secondary schooling in 2022  Wishing you all the best!, Go well, Kia Kaha & Kia Manuia!

Week 7 Term 4

Kia Ora whanau, trust you are all well.  Nga mihi atu to many of you who are learning from home.  Great to see you attempting a variety of independent learning tasks.  I encourage you to continue collaborating and interact with your peers as much as possible during these shared mahi.  On-site learning has been great fun for a number who have returned.  Our hauora is foremost and students are making the most of beautiful weather in outdoor integrated curriculum activities.  Many appreciate the opportunity to reconnect and interact with their peers over a game of soccer, hide-n-seek, dodgeball and many more.   Our plane-dart golf proved popular with many who made many modifications to their plane dart to improve distance and air-time.  The olive tree (middle & right) and totara (partial left) in the image below is the last station of our plane-dart golf.  I must say, we are fortunate to have a mixture of natives and fruit trees on o...

School Newsletter 18th November 2021 If you have received a Kete Takaaro, remember to share an Appreciation Post.  Share some pics of how you and your whanau are using these for hauora and wellness.   We are working through the following activity: Great outdoor family activity.  Check your emails for a copy has been shared with you.  We've yet to test our latest plane dart modifications made last week. We are therefore hoping to improve on the trial run we had last week.   Have fun! Be kind to each other!

FRIDAY HAPPZ - GRATITUDE POST & ROUND-OFF for Week 1 Term 4

KIA ORA   whanau - A huge round of applause for the wonderful learning collaborations we achieved this week, working through our Mathematics task slides.   I am super proud of your efforts and your positivity.  10 weeks into lockdown for us here in Tamaki Makaurau thus far so it's super important to continue looking for the GOOD in people and events around us.  In times like this, we must REACH OUT to a friend or a relative, checking on their HAUORA as well as LOOKING AFTER ourselves and those in our immediate bubbles. Brief Reflection: Name three things you are GRATEFUL for.   What simple ACTS of KINDNESS can we do in our current capacity?   When was the last time you FIST-BUMPED or WAVED out to your neighbour? Virtual hugs to you all who have not yet had a chance to join our Google Meets since the initial lockdown in Term 3.  Understandably, device priority in some households go to your secondary school siblings however, I hope you have attempted some mahi from our class page or other learning materials you could access.  Whatever your circumstances, please know that we are thinking of you and look forward to reconnecting soon. Here's hoping you all had a wonderful time over the holidays.  I hope you all managed to get out of the house more, capitalising on the sunny spring days in the past weeks. I have sent you all a new link for our Google Meet.  Due to a Staff Meeting this morning, we'll have our Class Meeting at 11:00am. WELCOME TO WEEK 10 TERM 3 - KIA KAHA WHANAU

Here's hoping that you have been keeping well, lots of lifelong learning, and appreciating simple things in life.  Let's continue to be thankful for the gift of life and the ability to make choices.  Remember that the choices we make today will impact our successes tomorrow - so Kia Kaha whanau!  Kei a koe to mana.  The choice is yours! Kia Ora whanau, here's hoping you are all well and safe.  While Tamaki Makaurau has moved to Alert Level 3, it is important we continue to practise safe protocols as we have previously in Alert Level 4. This STEM activity poster by Shriya Chand serves as a great reminder: With an intense focus on Te Wiki o te Reo Maori last week, it's essential we continue incorporating Te Reo in our everyday korero.   By using Te Reo, we also continue acknowledging this beautiful taonga, unique to Maori - the Indigenous people of this whenua, Aotearoa Keep checking our school website for recent updates.  Remember to include some physical fitness activities in your daily routine for Hauora and wellness!

  Hooray!!  We've made it safely to the end of Week 6, Term3!!    There's plenty to be grateful for however, let us also pause and pray for those who may not be as fortunate as we are during these challenging times. Kahoot presenters (Week 7) will be: Mahara & Shyria; based on Tokyo Olympics 2020, Paralympics Games, Sports, and Aotearoa-NZ General Knowledge. I am positive that you have been demonstrating our EHS value of RANGATIRATANGA so let's end the week with a few more examples over the weekend. We have some fantastic student-driven learning at home.  Be encouraged to continue learning.  Many of you at our Google-Meets are sharing responsibilities around your whare - that's learning applications.  Conquer small hills so you are better equipped for the higher ones ahead. In reference to our Pakirehua (Inquiry), here's a suggestion by the majority on our Google-Meet earlier today. Remember to work with what's already in the pantry.  Blog your baking experience! Refer to the poster below also if your whanau/aiga/kainga can do with a bit of assistance or awhina during these times! Our next Google-Meet is at 9:30 am tomorrow. See you then !

Wellness & Fun while Learning from Home

  Hope you are keeping well.  I know a number of you and your kainga have had your Covid vaccinations - cheers to you for your bravery!  There are a number of situations where you'd easily express your thoughts via a GIF - please blog your experience and share with us. In reference to your hauora, what games (eg. card/board) or leisure activities (eg. family walks, bike-riding etc.) are you participating in? Blog a GIF or a meme to express a reaction from a couple of those activities. The KiwiCan team sends their aroha and shared a couple of 'Conquer A Challenge' activities with us: Remember to join our class Google-Meet tomorrow at 9:30am.  Bring any questions you have from the week's learning activities.   Bring a game suggestion we can all participate in as a class.  See you tomorrow!
